Campaign for Action Update: September 1, 2015

Below are the Campaign for Action updates for the week of Sept. 1.

Does your Action Coalition or someone in it deserve recognition? Send shout-out suggestions to Aidan McCallion at [email protected].
Alabama Action Coalition GEARing UP

The Alabama Health Action Coalition has partnered with GEAR UP Alabama (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs), a U.S. Department of Education grant program, to support youngsters in the state. The Action Coalition developed a toolkit on nutritional topics and a matching curriculum, which was presented to GEAR UP trainers, who will use the information to teach 10,000 sixth and seventh graders and their families. Congratulations to the Coalition on this great effort to have an impact on the culture of health in Alabama!

Kentucky Members Published

Congratulations to Nora Warshawsky, PhD, RN, co-chair of the Kentucky Action Coalition, Arica Brandford, JD, MSN, RN, and Jonas Scholar, and Nancy Barnum, PhD, RN, of the Kentucky Action Coalition, for publishing “Achieving 80% BSN by 2020: Lessons Learned From Kentucky’s Registered Nurses.” It was published in September’s Journal of Nursing Administration.

Strong Communications Can Help Your Action Coalition!

Your Action Coalition is doing engaging work: May we help you promote it? Do you need to get the word out about an event, or want help creating materials? What about support in setting up a website to share your accomplishments and get others involved? We can help! The Campaign for Action Communications Team (CFACT) can assist with your news releases, promotional materials, and more, through September. Please email [email protected] and let us know what we can do for you.

Note: Action Coalitions working on their State Implementation Program (SIP) grant announcements should continue to use the process specified by the Campaign for materials review, and Academic Progression in Nursing (APIN) projects should continue using existing resources to support their communications work.
