Take a Look Back at Nurses Week 2017: Gratitude Aplenty
The Campaign for Action honored National Nurses Week, May 6-12, with a video and two special essays. The video celebrated nurses’ multifaceted contributions and the Campaign‘s two top nurses each paid tribute. Susan B. Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, senior adviser for nursing, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and director, Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action wrote a deeply personal piece, and Susan C. Reinhard, PhD, RN, FAAN, senior vice president and director, AARP Public Policy Institute and chief strategist, Center to Champion Nursing in America, took a thoughtful look at leadership.
Nebraska Hits the Road for Health for Nurses Week
The Nebraska Action Coalition and Nebraska Nurses Association drove more than 1,000 miles to spread the word of wellness for National Nurses Week in a roadshow it called “Healthy Nurse, Healthy Community.”

New RWJF CEO Richard Besser Introduces Himself
Richard Besser, MD, became president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation last month. In a Q&A and video, he talks of his experiences as a pediatrician, at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at ABC News, as well as and what led him to RWJF.
Culture of Health Allies Gather in Louisiana
More than 130 people from across Louisiana met in late April. The goal of the meeting, said the director of the Action Coalition: “To join committed health professionals and health care…to foster connections and build collective capacity to improve conditions for every Louisiana resident to have the opportunity to achieve physical, mental and social health.”

Albuquerque Greets Action Coalitions; Two More Meetings Planned
On April 19-20, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Campaign hosted the first of three regional meetings dubbed “Building on the Campaign for Action Pillars to Create a Healthier America.” The next sessions for Action Coalitions are in Madison, Wisconsin, June 14-15; and Boise, Idaho, June 28-29.
