Florida Action Coalition Publishes First Annual Report
The Florida Action Coalition recently published its first annual report detailing the major accomplishments of its four action teams–Education, Practice, Leadership, and Communications. The report includes interesting data, attractive infographics, and provides a great example that other Action Coalitions can follow. Susan Hassmiller calls it an “excellent report and excellent state Action Coalition partnership.” Read the report here.
Funding, Tools and Other Opportunities
The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action has created a page for information and resources regarding the Ebola outbreak. Information shared will include announcements about state and federal webinars for nurses and others, as well as conferences, etc. If you have something to share, please email [email protected] with the details.

Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education
Nursing Education Perspectives, the National League for Nursing’s bimonthly peer-reviewed research journal recently published initial findings from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education Initiative. The journal’s latest issue contains six manuscripts on the subject. Read it here.
Removing Barriers to Practice and Care
Nurses are Lifesavers
Elaine Ryan, vice president of State Advocacy and Strategy Integration in AARP’s Government Affairs group, recently blogged about nurses as lifesavers to family caregivers, and the need to allow advanced practice nurses to practice to the full extent of their education and training. Read more here.

October Meeting of the Diversity/Data Learning Collaborative
Wednesday, October 29, 2014 | 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. EDT
This Learning Collaborative is an opportunity for Action Coalitions to work together to develop, strengthen, or implement a diversity action plan. Meetings occur monthly either via WebEx or teleconference and provide Action Coalitions an opportunity to learn from our diversity consultants, other experts, and each other.
Moving Forward in Academic Progression: BSN Foundational Courses
Friday, November 7, 2014 | 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. EDT
Learn about progress made on the priorities of standardized prerequisites and graduations requirements for RNs.
Donna Meyer, MSN, RN, Dean of Health Sciences and Project Director for the Lewis and Clark Community College Family Health Clinic; and Jean Giddens, Dean and Professor, School of Nursing, Virginia Commonwealth University, will share the BSN Foundational Courses recommended for all degrees. There will be time for questions and discussion of this important work.
