Every year the American Academy of Nursing names as fellows a number of clinicians, researchers, policy leaders, educators, and executives who have made significant contributions to nursing and health care. Campaign COACHes Available to Support Action Coalitions 

Does your Action Coalition have an event or meeting coming up? Are you interested in bringing in new partners and supporters, such as local businesses, community groups, or health care organizations? If so, consider asking a Campaign Outreach Advocate for a Culture of Health (COACH) to help. COACHes have received public speaking, networking, fundraising, and advocacy training, and are located throughout the country. Contact us to request a COACH.

The Campaign’ s monthly teleconference calls linking nursing education and Culture of Health concepts are on hold till the fall. Leaders for Health Equity Fellowships Accepting Applications

The George Washington University continues its Leaders for Health Equity Fellowship program, aimed at early and midcareer professionals in various industries who are or want to be leaders in addressing inequities in health care. Deadline: July 15.

Federal Grants Offered to Reduce Health Disparities

The Office of Minority Health, part of Health and Human Services, offers grants of $300,000 to $350,000  as part of its Empowered Communities for a Healthier Nation Initiative. Grants will go to programs that improve the health of minority and disadvantaged communities affected by the opioid epidemic, childhood or adolescent obesity, or mental illness. Deadline: August 1, 5 p.m. ET.
