New Mexico, North Carolina, and California Increase Diversity in the Workforce through Schools of Nursing
Through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Academic Progression in Nursing (APIN) program, states are working to increase workforce diversity in nursing through schools of nursing. A recent article in Nurse.com highlights the work of three APIN states: New Mexico, North Carolina and California. Congratulations!

WE NEED YOUR PHOTOS AND SUCCESS STORIES
The Campaign for Action is turning five, and we want to include your Action Coalition’s work in a video that celebrates successes! Please send your photos or top accomplishments. We’ll use these materials in a video that will debut at the December Summit and then shared via social media, in presentations, and made available to all Action Coalitions.
Please send photos of an event or group shot of your Action Coalition members, and in a brief sentence, tell us what your Action Coalition has accomplished in the past five years. We know some of you have many accomplishments, so please highlight only the top two or three.
For example:
Nebraska joins 19 states and Washington, DC in modernizing nurse practitioner laws.

RWJF Google+ Hangout on Why Nursing is Key to a Culture of Health

On Oct. 2, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) will host an online video chat (Google+ Hangout) on why nursing is key to a Culture of Health. Nurses are of inestimable value to the nation’s health care system. Thanks in part to a groundbreaking Institute of Medicine report and the resulting Campaign for Action, nurses are now taking on leadership roles on the boards of some of America’s largest hospitals and health systems. At the same time, nurses are also innovating how the nation prevents and treats illness, and are advancing the underlying health of communities, businesses, schools and even prisons.

Call for Applications for Nurse Anesthetist Traineeships
Nursing schools, nursing centers, academic health centers, state or local governments, and other public or private nonprofit entities authorized by the Department of Health and Human Services to educate nurse anesthetists are encouraged to apply for the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Nurse Anesthetist Traineeship program. The purpose of the award is to provide traineeship support for licensed registered nurses enrolled as full-time students in an accredited graduate-level nurse anesthesia program.
Applications are due by Nov. 20.

Attention, midcareer health professionals and behavioral and social scientists with an interest in health and health care policy: The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is looking for applicants for its 2016-2017 Health Policy Fellows program. The fellowship provides the nation’s most comprehensive learning experience at the nexus of health, science, and policy in Washington, D.C. Fellows will have the chance to participate in the policy process at the federal level and use that leadership experience to improve health, health care, and health policy.
