We’re Getting a New Look Online
The Campaign for Action is pleased to announce we will go live with a new website on Wednesday.
We’ve been hard at work for months on a new site that is more friendly and engaging to those inside and outside the world of nursing, can be searched more easily, and for the first time includes a blog. Many of you have donated your time to give us your thoughts — thank you. Please be sure to check out the new site, which we will promote as part of our messaging for National Nurses Week May 6-12.

Communication, Mentoring Are Among Principles of Nurse Leaders
Nurse leaders have a huge impact on patients, of course, and also on their staff. In Nurse.com, read what an emergency department nursing director, advanced clinician, and nursing director for inpatient oncology services say are their guiding principles.

The Growing Racial and Ethnic Diversity of Older Adults
In an blog post, a senior strategic policy adviser for the AARP Public Policy Institute points to the county she lives in, near Washington, D.C., as a window on the country’s near future: “More than 1 out of every 4 county residents 70 years or older speak a language other than English at home. Of those speaking another language, 1 out of 6 do not speak English.” The essay, by Wendy Fox-Grage, also provides a broader look at the U.S. as a whole, noting the need for a health care workforce that is sensitive to a variety of cultures and backgrounds.

Funding, Tools, and Other Opportunities
Moore Inventor Fellows Program
The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is launching the Moore Inventor Fellowship program “to invest in people who create new tools and technologies with a high potential to accelerate progress in the foundation’s areas of interest: scientific research, environmental conservation and patient care.”
The foundation will spend nearly $34 million to support 50 Moore fellows focusing on “investment at a critical stage of research to capture opportunities that otherwise might be missed.”
Nominations are due on May 1 by 5 p.m. PT.

Accelerating Interprofessional Community-Based Education and Practice
Are you part of an accredited nursing school with graduate programs looking to develop a creative, robust, and sustainable interprofessional initiative in a community-based clinical setting? You may want to apply for a program located at the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education at the University of Minnesota, developed and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The John A. Hartford Foundation, the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
The submission portal will open on April 25.
Applications are due by July 15 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

The Center to Champion Nursing in America hosts technical assistance webinars and teleconferences on a variety of topics. We also post information about webinars hosted by others that may be of interest.
New — Fundraising and Coalition Building

Healthy finances are key to the long-term success of your Action Coalition, and this webinar will provide guidance toward that end. Campbell & Company, a fundraising adviser for the Campaign , will help you build a persuasive story about your Action Coalition’s work, including the Culture of Health, and will show you how to bring your fundraising efforts to a broader audience beyond nursing and health care.
You’ll also hear what Action Coalitions learned last year from similar fundraising assistance: Susan B. Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s senior adviser for nursing and director of the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, will discuss successes and challenges reported in survey results from Action Coalitions that participated in fundraising webinars in 2015.
