Shout-Outs
Does your Action Coalition or someone in it deserve recognition? Send Shout Out suggestions to Aidan McCallion at [email protected].

Advocating for APRNs The American Nurses Association (ANA) sends a shout-out to Andrea Brassard, DNSc, MPH, FNP, FAANP, a senior policy fellow at ANA, Sue Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, senior adviser for nursing, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and director of the Campaign for Action, and Winifred V. Quinn, PhD, director, advocacy and consumer affairs, Center to Champion Nursing in America. The trio recently authored articles advocating for advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) and published in a special edition of Nurse Leader.

Brassard’s article, “APRN Policy and Payment,” urged chief nursing officers to “provide institutional support to ensure that APRNs are utilized effectively, and barriers to practice are lifted.”

Hassmiller and Quinn’s article, “How Nurse Leaders Can Fix Our Healthcare System,” highlighted the Campaign’s efforts to remove outdated barriers to care and the importance of nurses being “full partners with physicians and others in re-designing” the new healthcare system where consumers are at the center.

Student Nursing Association Students Lend a Hand to Action CoalitionsCampaign Director Sue Hassmiller sends a shout-out to Action Coalitions who contacted their state student nursing association presidents to invite them to join their work. Recently, Sue recognized at the National Student Nurses Association convention all nursing student presidents working with Action Coalitions.  Follow Sue on Twitter (@suehassmiller) to see comments from the student convention.
